The Process of Installation of External Wall Insulation

The whole Process of Installation of External Wall Insulation consists of the following steps:

Render Test

The first step in the installment of External Wall Insulation is Render Test. In this test, it is determined that whether the existing render is strong enough to support the EWI. If the existing render is strong enough, then the process of Installation of EWI continuous by just smoothing it. However, if it is not strong, it will be removed first before the installation of EWI.

Adjustment of Pipework

After Render Testing, all pipework is removed before starting the installation process of EWI. The water sanitation from the building is carried out through temporary downpipes to prevent water leakage. Any soil or waste pipes are removed from the walls to prevent any hindrance in the process of installation of EWI.

Protect Windows

A firm cover or protective layer is fitted on the windows to protect them from any harm during the process.

Fitting a Starter Track

Before starting the installation process, you will decide the height of insulation against the walls. It is usually a few inches or feet above the ground. A starter is applied to the decided height of insulation.

Installing Insulation boards

After this, insulation boards are installed and the process of installation of insulation begins. A layer of adhesive is applied to each board and then they are fixed on the wall in a staggered format.

Adding Mechanical Fixings

For securing insulation boards, mechanical fixings are added in addition to adhesives.

Adding Beading

For the safety and tightness of insulation around windows and doors, corner beads and stope beads are applied.

Adding Reinforcing render and mesh

After the installment of insulation boards, two layers of render with strengthening properties are applied. Fiberglass mesh is fitted between the two layers of render.

Apply primer

In this step, a primer is painted on the insulation boards. Primer provides the substrate for the attachment of the final render because of the sticky nature of its granules.

Apply the final render

In the last step, the final render is applied and the pipework is reinstalled.
